The biggest house in the world is also one of the seats of the British monarchy, the Windsor Castle. Windsor Castle is located in Berkshire, England. It is the oldest continuingly occupied castle. It has about 45.000 square meters occupied by the castles floor. It was first established in 1070 by William The Conqueror, so that means that it is almost a thousand years old! It was originally a wooden castle, standing on the site that is now occupied by the so called Round Tower. Most of the England Kings and Queens left their mark in continuous development of the castle. During the times of war, the currently reigning monarch would build more walls and try to fortify it more heavily. During the times of peace, king or queen would add to it more apartments and rooms for fun and entertainment. The famous college, Eton College is located just across the river Thames some 600 meters from the Windsor Castle.

The castle was built at about 1200 AD but it was completly destroyed in 1445. It is rebuilt again by the King of Munster, Cormac MacCarthy. Castle is partial ruin and at the top of lies Blarney Stone. Tourist are bending upside down over a sheer drop to kiss the stone, since believe exists that kissing the stone will give gift of eloquence. Some legends say also that stone is Lia Fail, magical stone where Irish kings are crowned.

Beautiful and amazing gardens surrounds the castle. Also there is few other attractions to see such as Druids Circle, Wishing Steps, Witchs Cave, Blarney House… To get toBlarney is very easy, with buses or cars from Cork.

The lake is 2120 m long and 1380 m wide with deepest part of 30 meters. Nature here is amazing, lake is surrounded by forests and mountains with many small villages around. Above the lake is Medieval castle, and in the middle of the lake is the Bled Island with the Church of the Assupmtion of Mary on it. The lake is 55 km far from Ljubljana and it is well known in sports world as it hosted world rowing championship three times. Island Bled is the only island in Slovenia :D . Medieval Bled castle is first time mentioned in 1004 which means that castle is one of the oldest castles in Slovenia. As you see in the images castle position is magnificent. Forbidden city. Largest surviving world palace complex. It is located in the middle of Beijing and it was imperial palace from the Ming Dinasty to the end of Quing dinasty. Palace complex is rectangle of 961 metres lenght and 753 metres width and is surrounded by a 8 meter tall city wall and a 6 meter deep 52 meter wide canaal, with almost a thousand buildings inside. Since this is very famous bulding (now it is a museum), if you are interested more about the history of palace or how to take a trip there then you can start from the Forbidden City article at the wikipedia and the Beijing article at the wikitravel…

It is located in the Cahir town on a rocky island on the river Suir. It is well preserved and retains keep, tower and much of its original structure. It has a guided tour and audiovisual shows on multiple languages. It was built in 1142 by Conor O’Brien, Prince of Thomond. In 1375 the castle was granted to Butler James, Baron of Cahir for his loyalty to Edward III. The Butlers of Cahir joined Irish side in the Elizabethan Wars and in 1599 castle was captured by the army of the Earl Of Essex. During the Irish Confederate Wars castle was recaptured twice. In the year of 1647 George Mathew, the guardian of the young Lord Cahir surrendered castle to Lord Inchiquin after his victory at the battle of Knocknanauss. In 1650 he surrendered again to Oliver Cromwell during His conquest of Ireland without single shot fired. Castle is partly rebuilt in 1840.
