When people think about gorges in Europe, usually first one they think off is Verdon Gorge. Verdon Gorge is located in south-eastern France in region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. For detailed orientation check the map of France. It is formed by the Verdon River and is second largest gorge in the world with over 25 km in length and depths up to 700 meters. Since it is very close to Côte d’Azur (French Riviera), canyon is very popular among the tourist, who can rent kayaks, hike or drive around with the car. There are 5 dams on the river which are significant producer of electric energy for the France.
Popular sightings are The Imbut, funnel where Verdon disappear under the rocks, The Styx Du Verdon, sub-canyon within the canyon. Climbing, hiking, paragliding, canoeing rafting, climbing are very popular in the area, so as fly fishing. Check this beautiful scenery:

River Kamachnik rise from the deeps of Gorski Kotar near town Vrbovski in Croatia. River is only 3 km long (after which it cascading to River Dobra), but because of exceptional beauty it is under state protection. In the entrance off canyon, scene is magical, almost like a from the Lords Of The Rings. Forest is everywhere and high trees are making pleasent shades. On the side walls of old sawmill looks like castle walls. Further up the river begins high gulch covered by the green moss. Footpath is following the river further. While heading to the spring you are stepping over wooden bridges and crossings. Few fallen trees and impression of wilderness are giving special taste to this place. Only bridge Kamchanik is ruining this impression. In the end you are coming to the river spring. Spring is sunken under a small lake and looks very attractive. You can easily get there by the speedway Zagreb – Rijeka. The Rakitnica River is placed in Bosnia and Hercegovina 30 km from Sarajevo. Passing between the mountains Bjelasnica and Visocica Rakitnica formed an attractive canyon maybe 25 km long.
