Basically aupair is a deal where young persons (man or woman) are staying in foreign country as family member of family where they stay. They act as a family member, helping the locals as it’s their own family by caring for children and helping the household. In return guest person (Au Paire) is receiving a family member status and experience another nation and culture. In Europe every au pair must sign standard au pair contract with family where they stay.

Au Pairs can not be treated as slaves, they are not required to use a uniform, and in fact they must be equal to any other member of the family. They are involved in family activities, trips and celebrations.

Au Pairs are actually great way to experience foreign culture and to travel across the planet. Not only Au Pair will learn and discover new thing, host family will do the same.

Many countries have specific Au Pairs rules and requirement, like specific age, language knowledge, and specific care knowledge, to be non smoker and non drug user or to attend some specific schools in host country (usually language schools).

Usually Au Pair will get some monetary fund from their new families, so they can go out with their newly made friend. Amounts vary but they are usually around 250-300 euros monthly in European countries and around 400$ in United States Of America.

Also Au Pair must have their own room, their own place for rest and their own place for privacy.

Countries where Au Pair employment arrangements are very well developed are: USA, Austria, Germany, Canada, France, Finland, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, United Kingdom and Japan.

First check the International Travel tips site. If you are not from United States replace US with your country. Study the text and prepare yourself according to it. Try to find enough information about the place you visit. Try to not have, bunch of cash with you. Use credit cards, or travel cheques. Contact your credit card company and check are there any issues with them and country you go. Try to change some money before you depart. If you have a pet then check this site to.In another country don’t drink their water even if indigenous people drink it. Stick with bottled or boiled water. Be sensible that ice is water, so do not order ice with drinks. Brush your teeth with bottled water to. If you have food allergies learn names of that food on the language of country you visit. Do not eat raw food. Learn what types of vaccinations you need to enter the country and learn common disease of that country. When you arrive, check do you need to reconfirm your flight back, if yes then do so. Beware of people who wants to “help” they maybe don’t have in mind “help”. This covers most of thing, also most countries are very safe and you will never have a single problem, but beware Murphy never sleeps .
