After surfing on You Tube I come up on this place. It is breathtaking. Similar to my homeland Bosnia, but with much higher mountains and peaks.
Svaneti is historic province in today Georgia, in the northwestern part of the country. It got name by the ethnic Svans (ethnic subgroups of the Georgians). Svaneti is mountains region with 3000-5000 m high mountains. Highest mountain in Georgia Mount Shkara is located here with its peak at 5201 meters. Svaneti is a southern part of Greater Caucasus. Lower regions bellow 1800 m are covered by forests, 1800-3000 meters are grasslands and meadows, while eternal ice is above 3000 m of sea level. Lower regions and valleys are characterized by a long and warm summers and with cold and snowy winters… Above 2000 m, summers are short and cool, and long and cold winters… Large part of this region lies over 3000 m and actualy dont have a real summer. It looks like that Svaneti is also very popular alpinistic destination…  Also Svans ethno music is great and Svans are really old ethnic grupation with rich history since they are first mentioned at 3rd-4th century.
